Stephen’s first job after graduation was with an insurance company which led to an interest in financial services. In 1998 he took a job with a local firm of financial advisers, where he discovered that he enjoys guiding clients through the complexities of financial products and jargon to provide straightforward solutions that help them meet their long-term goals.
Since he comes from a scientific background, he was particularly attracted by the fact that the Ashburn Wealth Management investment philosophy and processes are thoroughly researched and evidence-based, and can stand up to the closest scrutiny.
Away from the office, Stephen enjoys walking with his wife Lisa and their two dogs, particularly while holidaying in Scotland. In recent years he has developed a passion for fly fishing, and never fails to amaze Lisa with the seemingly endless list of reasons (not excuses) as to why he has returned home empty-handed yet again.
After fleeting employment with a couple of the larger banks and years of travelling the length and breadth of the UK David decided it was time to work a little closer to home to spend more time with his young family.
This led to working for a small national IFA firm where he developed a specialism for pensions and retirement planning. Following a buy out by a larger company David decided it was time to make a fresh start.
He was introduced to Ashburn in 2011 and was pleasantly surprised to discover a company that put their clients first with talk of targets nowhere to be heard.
I decided I wanted to join Ashburn for three main reasons – the people, a mindset that puts client service above everything else and the investment philosophy.
I quickly realised Ashburn’s investment philosophy and process allows their clients to focus on living their lives and not worrying about whether this fund or that fund is performing, or whether their money will last their lifetime. It means clients can enjoy their retirement as fully as possible.”
Away from work David follows most sports along with his twin sons, Matthew and Sam, At the forefront are golf, cycling, parkrun and duathlons (run/bike/run). Hopefully in the future triathlons (swim/bike/run) will find their way into the schedule depending upon how the swimming goes!
David has a number of “C2C’s” to his name at the time of writing. He has also completed two Edinburgh Marathons but definitely won’t be doing any more!
Last but definitely not least in the family pecking order, are David’s partner of 30 years, Tina, who does the standing in the cold bit whilst David runs and cycles his way through the mud!
Heather's role as paraplanner involves preparing much of the background work for client reviews as well as assisting in the research on asset classes and funds.
Outside of the office Heather is learning to play the piano and enjoys long walks in Dales and the Lakes with her partner Charles, and her dog Jack and travelling as much as possible.
Dasha took every opportunity to study how financial institutions operate through education and work experience. She felt that financial information is often presented to private investors in an over complicated manner. This always struck her as unnecessary and unfair. As Dasha joined Ashburn Wealth Management in January 2015 she was glad to find out that the firm takes a different stance. They have developed their own “reader-friendly” Investment Philosophy Guide and are putting every effort in communicating their vision to their clients.
Dasha started as Heather’s protégée and is now a fully qualified financial planner. She is involved in helping advisers prepare the review and suitability reports and enjoys the technical side of it. She regularly takes part in review meetings with the clients.
In her spare time Dasha enjoys exploring the plenteous National Parks of the North by foot. She regularly enjoys Spin and Kettlebell classes in the local gym.
Towards the end of her time in London Becca worked in the Corporate Treasury department, dealing mostly with accounting for complex financial instruments. It was this which prompted her to begin to undertake the CFA program, sparking her interest in wealth management.
During non-working hours, Becca enjoys playing the piano and attending the local gym.
